DESCRIPTION The M72_W95.EXE file is a self-extracting file which contains version 7.20 of the Logitech mouse driver for Windows 95. The driver works with any Logitech pointing device(s) operating under Windows 95. Installation of this driver will automatically set the middle button of a Logitech 3 button mouse to function as a double-click. INSTALLATION Copy the M72_W95.EXE file into an empty, temporary directory or onto a blank, formatted floppy diskette. Once the file has been moved to one of these locations, please follow these instructions: - Close any open applications. - Click the START button on the Windows 95 Taskbar. - Click on RUN. - Browse to the appropriate directory or insert the diskette with the M72_W95.EXE file on it. - Highlight M72_W95.EXE and click on OPEN. - Click on OK. - A DOS window will open up and the four files listed above will be inflated. - When the Title Bar for the DOS window reads, "Finished - M72_W95" close the DOS window. - Click the START button on the Windows 95 Taskbar. - Click on SETTINGS, then click on CONTROL PANEL. - Launch the ADD NEW HARDWARE Icon and click on NEXT to begin installing new hardware. - When asked "Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware"? select NO and click on NEXT. - In the Hardware list, click on the Mouse Icon. NOTE: If there is no Mouse Icon available, click on the OTHER DEVICES Icon. - Click on NEXT. - Click the HAVE DISK button. - When prompted, browse to the appropriate directory or insert diskette where the expanded files are located and click OK. - Under Models, select the correct model that matches your pointing device type and click on NEXT. - Click on FINISH. - Windows 95 should now copy the mouse files to your system. - Windows 95 will now ask you to restart your system, click on YES to restart the system. The version 7.20 Logitech Mouse Driver is now installed. 3. ADDITIONAL NOTES If you are not running a Logitech Mouse Control Center to control the Button Assignments of your pointing device, you may need to make the following modification: Some programs require the middle button to generate a standard middle button event, instead of a double-click(i.e. like in a CAD application). To disable double-click and regain a standard middle mouse button click, you will need to make the following modification in the Windows 95 Registry. - Click on the START button on the Windows 95 Desktop and select RUN. - On the Open line, type C:\WINDOWS\REGEDIT.EXE. - From the Registry Editor screen, double-click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. - Double-click on SOFTWARE. - Double-click on LOGITECH. - Double-click on MOUSEWARE. - Double-click on CURRENTVERSION. - Find your device model from the list under CurrentVersion and double-click on that folder. - Click on the "0000" folder and information should be displayed on the right side of the Registry Editor screen. - Under the Name column, double-click on the "DoubleClick" entry and the Edit String Dialogue box should appear. - Modify the Value Data line to read "000" and click the OK button. - Exit the Registry Editor, saving is automatic, and restart Windows 95. - The middle button should now generate a standard middle button event.
