Users of the new Creative Software may experience difficulties in installing Creative Software for Windows 95. Due to the system architecture of Windows 95, the sequence of installing software will have different effects on Windows95.
Solution: As the new Creative Software installation CD contains two sets of driver & applications, one for existing DOS/Windows 3.1X user and the other for Windows95 user.
The following installation sequence/procedures are recommended:
Method 1 - Installing from DOS/Windows 3.1X First before upgrade to
Windows95
1. Installation of the software is as per normal, eg. type
INSTALL from the CDROM drive and follow through the
installation instructions in the program.
2. Proceed to Upgrade to Windows 95.
3. Proceed to install the Creative Software using the same
procedure "For user who already upgraded to Windows95"
describe in above paragraph.
Method 2 - Install after upgraded to Windows95
1. DO NOT INSTALL FROM DOS/WINDOWS 3.1X eg. DO NOT RUN THE
INSTALL.EXE program.
2. Proceed to Upgrade to Windows 95.
3. Proceed to install the Creative Software using the same
procedure "For user who already upgraded to Windows95"
describe in above paragraph.
Earlier versions of Creative Software does not contains the Creative
Software for Windows95 and the drivers are developed for Windows 3.1X.
1. DO NOT install the Creative Software (eg. do not run INSTALL.EXE from
DOS session) after upgrading to Windows95.
2. If you have installed the Creative Software after upgrading to
Windows95, the sound drivers for Windows95 will be overwritten. Thus
causing the sound support in Windows95 to fail. The following are the
remedies:
a. Remove the sound card device from the device manager.
b. Select Add New hardware from Control Panel.
c. Let Windows95 scan and detect the sound card and reinstall the
drivers for Windows95.
