Playback Of QuickTime Movies With A 3DBlaster Card
Problem:
When playing back Quicktime's *.MOV files under Windows 3.1x with 3D
Blaster-VLB installed (configured with 3D Blaster Display drivers),
users may not be able to view the video clips although audio is heard.
However, when Windows is configured to native VGA mode (using standard
VGA display, i.e., 640x480 with 16 colors), the problem does not
persist.
Possible Cause:
Optimized video hardware/driver combination allows QTW to write
directly to the video memory speeding up performance significantly.
There could have been some incompatibility between Quicktime and
the 3DBlaster's display driver, which optimizes the video using the
SVGA hardware by default.
Solution:
Insert the statement "Optimize=driver" under the [Video]
section of the QTW.INI file. Example:
...
Optimize=driver
NOTE: The "Optimize=driver" is case-sensitive. If the 1st
character 'O' is in lower case, it will not work.
