Ancilla Is Not Recognizing Telephone Handset Being Off-Hook
Problem:
Ancilla software does not detect the telephone handset being off-hook. Modem
Blaster 19.2 Voice may be experiencing a hardware or software conlict that is
preventing it from detecting the telephone handset.
Solution:
To troubleshoot the above problem, please follow these procedures:
- Ensure the telephone cables are connected to the correct jacks
- If present, remove any Y-connectors attached to the telephone. The
telephone must be directly connected to the modem in order for Ancilla to
detect when the handset has been lifted.
- DELTREE the Ancilla directory and re-install the sotware. When
re-installing the software, do the following:
- Install the DOS software first. (Installing Qmodem is optional).
- Select "Yes" when prompted by the software to update the AUTOEXEC.BAT.
- Do not install Ancilla when prompted by the DOS software.
- After a hard re-boot, install Ancilla from a Windows command line.
- Once Ancilla is installed, run the Port/IRQ Setup program in the
Ancilla group.
- Select the correct COM port and IRQ setting for the Modem Blaster 19.2;
default is COM 3 and IRQ 5.
- Restart Windows.
- Search the SYSTEM.INI file for occurences of the word "COM" in the
[386Enh] section. Remark out the occurences by replacing a semicolon (;)
in front of the line. Ancilla places the following lines in the [386Enh]
section of the SYSTEM.INI file:
- COM3Base=3E8
- COM3Irq=5
- COM3FIFO=0
Note:The above statements are the deault settings for the Modem
Blaster 19.2. These lines may appear differently if you have made any setting
changes.
