Creative Labs, Inc. is the first subsidiary in the long line of Creative's worldwide office establishments. In August 1988, W H Sim, chairman and co-founder of Singapore-based Creative Technology, established Creative Labs in a small San Francisco home office with the primary objective to sell Game Blaster, the forerunner of Sound Blaster.

This subsidiary has since grown to its current size of 500-plus staff with its very own office building in Milpitas, California; and a technical center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Centered at the pulse of Silicon Valley, the Milpitas facility houses the sales, marketing, R&D and operations departments. In offering Sound Blaster users extended support hours 7 days a week, the technical and customer support departments were relocated to Stillwater, Oklahoma in August 1993. In a survey conducted by USA Today in March 1994 amongst ten top PC companies including Compaq and Apple, Creative Labs Technical Support Center was rated #1 for the best technical support service.
