Creative Labs Launches New Sound Blaster 32 Discovery CD 8x with Extended Software Titles

- Leading WaveTable Sound Card Technology Offered with Internet Software -

17th September, 1996 - Creative Labs, the leading provider of multimedia products for the PC, announced at its annual European Technology Forum in Marbella the launch of a new version of the best-selling Discovery upgrade kit. The Sound Blaster 32 Discovery CD 8x kit will include the latest-technology 8-speed CD-Rom drive and advanced wave table sound card as well as high performance powered stereo speakers. The new version of the Discovery kit will include Internet software and software titles based on the latest Disney animated movies, Toy Story and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Encarta 96 the Microsoft encyclopaedia software and Actua Soccer will also be included.

Internet software is now included as standard with the Sound Blaster 32 card; Microsoft's Internet explorer for browsing, Creative's WebPhone for local rate phone calls worldwide, and Progressive Network's RealAudio player that enables the play- back of stored or real-time news and radio over the Internet. Creative has added these applications at no extra charge to the consumer.

Jan Hauer, Creative's multimedia product manager commented that "With the new version of Sound Blaster 32 Discovery CD 8x the customer is able to upgrade their PC to bring it in line with today's top of the range multimedia hardware with the additional value of the latest software titles."

The Sound Blaster 32 delivers WaveTable audio based on the EMU 8000 from E-Mu Systems, Inc. This enables real instrument sounds, as opposed to synthesised sounds, for a more real and immersive audio experience. The 8x CD-Rom drive enables full motion video as well as complex animation.

    The Sound Blaster 32 Discovery CD 8x will be available from October at a suggested retail price of £199 inc VAT.
