Concerning the Video Spigot and Installation into Windows 95

Although there are no native 32-bit drivers for the Video Spigot, it appears to work fine under Windows 95 using VidCap from Video For Windows. However, if you have the Digital Video Producer software, it will not work in Windows 95.

Here's how to add the drivers:

  1. Go into the Control Panel, select Add New Hardware.
  2. Click the Next button
  3. Click NO so that Windows will not try to detect the hardware.
  4. Double Click on "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" in the hardware list.
  5. Click on the Have Disk button... this is similar to the Unlisted or Updated Driver option in Windows 3.1.
  6. Insert the Spigot Diskette or type the path where the Spigot drivers are located (if you downloaded our CINEPA.EXE file from the BBS). Then, click OK.
  7. It will now list the four drivers, including the SuperMatch Video Spigot Capture Driver. Highlight the capture driver and click on OK. This will return you back to the Hardware Wizard.
  8. Click on Finish. This will copy the necessary files and will display the Spigot Driver setup where you can choose the Address and IRQ. You will have to pick an address and IRQ which you believe is available. Do not necessarily trust what the Scan options report. Click OK when done.
  9. It will ask you to restart the computer. Click on NO.
  10. Repeat steps 1 - 9 until the three Codecs are installed. Like Windows 3.1, you have to add them one at a time. You might not want to install the Cinepak Codec because Windows 95 comes with an updated version. To install the updated Cinepak Codec, it is listed under SuperMatch in the Hardware List that's displayed after step 4 above.
After the last driver is installed, restart the computer.

To check that it got installed, Go to the Control Panel -> Multimedia. Click on the Advanced Tab. You should see an option for Video Capture Devices. If you click on the "+" next to it, you should see the SuperMatch Video Spigot Capture Driver. To change its settings, Highlight the driver and click on Properties.

This will bring up a dialog box asking if you want to use it or not (in case you have multiple capture cards). Click on the Settings button here. This brings up the normal Spigot Driver setup.
