Installing "Creative Wave Effect Synthesizer" As The Default MIDI Synthesizer For SB AWE32 In Windows 95

Under Windows 95, SB AWE32 users may need to manually select the MIDI synthesizer used for MIDI playback. To have a better and more realistic MIDI playback user should choose "Creative Wave Effects Synthesizer" as the default MIDI synthesizer. By default Windows 95 will install the Yamaha OPL2/OPL3 FM synthesizer as the MIDI synthesizer. This will provide the same MIDI playback as an SB16 card. If you are using Windows 3.x, SB AWE32 installation will automatically install the "Creative Wave Effects Synthesizer" as your default MIDI instrument. You can check this under Midi Mapper.

To select "Creative Wave Effect Synthesizer" as your MIDI synthesizer under Windows 95, please follow these procedures:

1) Go to "Control Panel" and click on the "Multimedia" applet.

2) Click on the "MIDI" tab in the Multimedia dialogue box.

3) Change the MIDI synthesizer to "Creative Wave Effect Synthesizer"

4) Click on OK
