Display Or Application Sharing Problems With ShareVision PC3000
Problem:
When using ShareVision on systems with an EISA bus, one of the following
may occur:
- Images are slow or distorted on ShareVision's Remote Video Window
- Whiteboards cannot be shared
- The hand pointer and pencil annotations cannot be seen on the remote system
- File transfer is slow
- The following error message occurs:
We have encountered some serious communication problems
Solution:
Any of the above problems will occur if the system's ISA wait cycle is set at
a speed faster than the ShareVision hardware is designed to operate. This problem
occurs particularly with the Compaq Deskpro XL series, on which the ISA wait
cycle is set by default to 300 nanoseconds.
You may try to change these settings in the system BIOS setup:
- Change the ISA Cycle Wait Control to 540 nanoseconds. (On some systems,
this option is called EISA Timing)
- Define the slots that hold the RT300 and ShareVision Audi Card as generic
ISA adapters using 1 IRQ resource. Be sure to set the IRQ to match the IRQ
of the ShareVision hardware.
Note:
If you are not sure of the system BIOS setup, please do not change any
of the settings. Creative Labs will not be held responsible for any mishaps
or liabilities which may result from your mistake. Please consult your
System User's Manual, or contact the manufacturer for detailed instructions
on changing the system CMOS settings.
