"Memory Low" Error When Running The 1995 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia CD

You may encounter the error message "Memory is Low, System resources are low, please close one or more windows" when running The 1995 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia.

The symptom persists even though Windows Help shows that there is enough memory to run the program. The cause of the problem is that the size of the Windows permanent swap file created is greater than 30MB. The reason, however, is unknown.

Solution

This problem can be solved by reducing the Windows permanent swap file to less than 30 Mbytes (eg. 20 Mbytes). Please refer to your Windows manual on how to reconfigure the permanent swap file.
