Sound Blaster Performance 6x Extends Creative's Line of High-End Multimedia Kits

New Kit Provides Next Generation Wave Technology and Full Sound Blaster and Windows 95 Compatibility

MILPITAS -- October 24, 1995 -- Creative Technology Ltd. (Nasdaq:CREAF) today introduced Sound Blaster Performance™ 6x, a high performance multimedia kit that provides Creative's next generation Sound Blaster technologies, offering users a new level of multimedia computing at a superior value. The Sound Blaster Performance 6x is the premiere product in Creative's line of high performance multimedia kits. This kit combines Creative's own 6x speed CD-ROM drive and the Sound Blaster 32 PnP featuring EMU8000-based 32-voice wave table music synthesis, Creative's 3D stereo enhancement, full Sound Blaster and Windows® 95 compatibility and a great bundle of software titles for entertainment and education. Sound Blaster Performance 6x is designed to provide the user with the most powerful combination of technologies for a more immersive multimedia experience. It will be available this month at retail outlets for a projected street price of $429.99.

Features of Sound Blaster Performance 6x

The Sound Blaster Performance 6x includes Creative's Sound Blaster 32 PnP featuring: EMU8000-based wave-table synthesis for real instrument sounds, special effects such as reverb, chorus, and panning, Creative's 3D Stereo Enhancement for a richer more spacious sound, 32-voice polyphony, CD-quality, 16-bit stereo recording and playback. Sound Blaster 32 PnP is fully upgradeable to Creative's award-winning Sound Blaster AWE32. The upgrade allows the user to take advantage of E-mu's 3D Positional Audio and add Sound Fonts that allow new sounds and instruments to be loaded onto the card. In addition Sound Blaster 32 PnP provides full support for Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and DOS operating systems as well as complete plug-and-play compatibility.

Sound Blaster Performance 6x features Creative's own 6x speed internal, IDE CD-ROM drive which offers more than 900 KB per second transfer rate, a data access rate of 220 ms and 256 KB of cache memory. It is multi-session, Kodak Photo CD compatible, exceeds MPC Level 2 specifications and is CD-ROM XA ready. The drive also features an automatic front-loading tray, a front panel headphone jack and volume control for playback of audio CDs.

Sound Blaster Performance 6x also includes high-performance stereo speakers and the following powerful titles for education and entertainment.
