The following information should assist in setting up the Modem Blaster 19.2 Voice card with some applications. Please note that these settings may not work with all versions of the software, so if you have trouble or can't find some of the options mentioned, make certain that you have the version of the software mentioned.

America On-Line Software for Windows (ver 2.0)

1. Among the list of modems, choose Digicomm Connection + 14.4 (v2.0)

2. Select Edit Commands and change the modem initialization string to the following:

AT&F%C0\N1&K0&C1&D2&S0S37=0S9=2^M

If that does not work, try just the following:

AT&F^M

Here is a break down, FYI.

&F: Load factory default settings.
%C0: Disables all data compression.
\N1: No Error Check (pass through mode).
&K0: Disable all Flow control
&C1: Data Carrier Detect on in presence of valid carrier signal.
&D2: Enter command mode upon hang up, Set DTR (Data Terminal Ready OFF, disable Auto-Answer.
&S0: Data Set Ready is always on.
S37=0: Modem connect rate set to Auto.. connect at highest possible.
S9=2: Set Carrier Detect Time to 0.2 Seconds. (How long the remote modem's carrier signal must be present for the modem to recognize it).

DOOM, DOOM2, Heretic

1. Make certain that the data profile has been downloaded to the modem before starting DOOM (Use dl d192pro.cli from the directory the modem's software has been installed in).

2. Use the following initialization string:

AT&F%C0\N0&K0

Doom requires that Flow Control is disabled (&K0), Error Checking is disabled(\N0), and Data compression is disabled (%C0).

Procomm Plus 2.0

Set the modem to Digicom Connection 144+, Auto Reliable.

In the Soft Modem manager, set the Procomm Executable (PW2.EXE) as DATA only. Then, set Procomm's Fax executable (FAXSTAT.EXE) as Fax Only. This way, you can simply run the FAXSTAT program to receive faxes and not the whole Procomm program and the Soft Modem manager will recognize it.

WinCIM (1.3.1 and later)

Choose the Digicom Connection Series as the modem type. No modifications should be necessary to the default settings.

With previous versions of WinCIM, choose either the Hayes Compatible (default) or Digicom Scout 14.4 Fax modem options. All settings at their defaults.

WinFax Lite

Choose the Generic Class 1 Send/Receive Fax/Modem. The default init string should work fine.

WinFAX Pro 4.0

Set the modem as a Digicom Systems, Inc. - Connection 96+

In the Soft Modem Manager, set the FAXMNG.EXE (WinFAX executable) as FAX only.
