Installing A CD ROM Drive in OS/2
- If the IDE CDROM port set on the sound card is either Tertiary
or Quaternary port, then change the IDE I/O address on the sound
card to secondary port i.e. 170,15.
- If you have an Enhanced IDE controller on your motherboard,
then disable the secondary IDE port on the motherboard through
the BIOS CMOS setting, or use the jumpers selection on
the motherboard. Make sure that the IDE setting on the sound card
is set to secondary port, i.e. 170,15.
- Check that your IDE CDROM drive is set to 'Master' mode and
NOT 'Slave' mode if it is the first device on the IDE controller,
e.g. connected to SB16 IDE card.
- If you own a Creative CR563 drive which is having disk ID
set at 1 (factory default), make sure that the CR563 drive ID
is changed to 0 by performing the following steps:
- Switch the jumper at the rear of CR563 to ID 0. If you have
CR52x daisy chained with CR563, then you MUST install the OS/2
Warp using CR52x.
- Manually edit the following statement in the CONFIG.SYS of
the CDROM installation disk 1 before installation:
DEVICE=SBCD2.ADD /P:XXX, where XXX is the I/O address of
the sound card.
- If you own a Funai models E2550UA, E2800UA or Creative CD200
CDROM drive, please download the CD_OS2.EXE file from Creative.
If the installation of the IBM OS/2 Warp is not successful,
then edit the CONFIG.SYS file of the "OS/2 Warp- Diskette
for CDROM" as follows:
basedev=sbcd2.add --> remove or REM out this statement
basedev=crccd2.add /P:220 --> add this statement for CD200/E2550UA/
E2800UA
The installation of OS/2 Warp requires two portions. After completed
the 1st portion's installation, go to the CONFIG.SYS file found
on the installed OS/2 partition, e.g. Drive C. You will see something
like below and do the necessary editing :
basedev=sbcd2.add --> already removed or REM out this
statement
basedev=crccd2.add /P:220 --> already added this statement for
CD200/E2550UA/E2800UA
** basedev=sbcd2.add --> remove or REM out this
statement
** This statement is being loaded once again into the CONFIG.SYS
file after completing the 1st portion installation. Please remove
or REM out this statement by pressing the "F3" function
key to exit to the OS/2 command line to make the above changes.
Remember to exit and reboot the system, and the 2nd portion of
the installation will continue automatically. However, if you
rebooted the system immediately after completing the 1st portion
installation, then you also need to make the above changes, restart
the system and execute the "Selective Install" from
the "System Setup" icon found in the OS/2 System folder
in the OS/2 Desktop to continue the remaining portion of OS/2
installation.
- If you are using Mitsumi FX400 or Creative CD4000 CDROM drive,
edit the CONFIG.SYS file by adding the following parameters to
the ATAPI driver:
basedev=ibmls506.add /v /u:0 /ATAPI
