"Establishing an office in Toronto and staffing it with a team of seasoned professionals from the Canadian computer industry will let Creative directly address the needs of our customers in Canada," said Greg Woock, senior director of sales for Creative Labs, Creative Technology's U.S. subsidiary. "Creative's commitment to its Canadian business is a long-term investment that will result in increasing our presence in that market and provide efficient, localized service for Canadian consumers."
With Creative's expanded Canadian presence, the company will localize product software and documentation and initiate specialized customer support lines in both official languages of Canada -- English and French. Creative will also design product packaging and localize marketing and advertising support programs in both languages.
Leading Creative's Canadian operation is Mark Jamieson, Canadian sales manager. Formerly with Ingram Canada, Jamieson will oversee Creative's Canadian operations and is responsible for all sales and distribution into the Canadian channel.
"We have a tremendous opportunity to increase our market share in Canada by establishing an increased channel presence throughout the region," added Woock. "By assigning a dedicated staff to Canada and providing localized products and advetising to the end-user, Creative has taken a major step in growing its Canadian business."
