MPU-401 On The Sound Blaster AWE32
Question:
Does the AWE32 have a hardware MPU-401? I tried to install a MPU-401 driver in
Windows and it wasn't successful.
Answer:
The AWE32 does not have an MPU-401. It emulates an MPU-401 doing general midi
with the aweutil.exe driver that came with the card. This driver does not
work with protected mode programs (like Windows). Since it is only
emulating an MPU-401, drivers to run an actual MPU-401 will not work.
