AWEUTIL.EXE Program Resident In Memory Causes System Hangs,
Reboots
- Some utilities, e.g. Quarterdeck QEMM.COM, OPTIMIZE.COM will
not run properly with AWEUTIL.EXE resident in memory. Please unistall
AWEUTIL.EXE before running the failing programs.
- In order to run AWEUTIL.EXE properly with 386MAX memory manager,
please do the following:
- Disable High RAM by adding the following line in the 386MAX.PRO
profile file;
- e.g. 1 EXCLUDE=lowaddr-highaddr (i.e. exclude all of the unused
ROM address space)
- e.g. 2 EXCLUDE=A000-DFFF (i.e. suppresses creation of High
RAM but allows the address E000-EFFF to be used for EMS Page Frame.)
- If QEMM Stealth ROM feature is enabled in your system. Please
disable QEMM Stealth ROM feature before trying to run AWEUTIL.EXE
by;
- running the QEMM QSetup.EXE program, or
- removing the ST:M or ST:F parameter of QEMM386.SYS in CONFIG.SYS
