Creative Technology Names Chief Scientist

Singapore - August 12, 1996; Creative Technology Ltd. (NASDAQ: CREAF), the world's leading provider of multimedia products for personal computers, today announced the appointment of Dave Rossum to the position of chief scientist. In this newly created position, Rossum will assume responsibilities for providing technical vision and leadership, as well as integrating the technical strategies of Creative's worldwide development teams. He will report directly to the chairman and CEO of Creative.

Rossum, a pioneer in the audio industry, is also known as the "founding father of wave-table synthesis" and holds numerous patents in the area of digital audio synthesis. In 1972, Rossum founded E-mu Systemsİ, which quickly became the leading developer of innovative digital audio products for the musical instrument and computer controlled sound markets. At E-mu, Rossum designed many of the company's proprietary VLSI chips and introduced the industry's first cost effective digital sampling instrument, the E-mu Emulatorİ. E-mu's current line of digital sample players and synthesisers - the Proteusİ line - has revolutionised the music industry. They are used extensively worldwide by music professionals and hobbyists alike, and can be heard in a diverse range of music recording, film video and performance environments.

In 1993, E-mu was acquired by Creative where Rossum served as vice president of E-mu and vice president of technology of the joint Creative/E- mu Technology Centre. With nearly 25 years experience in the audio high tech industry, Rossum will develop technical strategies for Creative's multimedia and communication lines including the company's Sound Blasterİ audio technology.
