Playmate's Battle Arena Toshinden Optimized for 3D Blaster

Highly Acclaimed Fighting Game Fully Supported by Creative's 3D Graphics Accelerator

E3, LOS ANGELES - May 15, 1996
- Creative Technology Ltd. (NASDAQ: CREAF), the world's leading provider of multimedia products for personal computers, announced today that Battle Arena Toshinden, from Playmates Interactive Entertainment, has been added to the growing list of 3D Blaster compatible titles. Battle Arena Toshinden was developed using the Creative Graphics Library (CGL) platform in order to take full advantage of the various 3D graphics solutions available from Creative Labs.

"We are excited to include Playmates Interactive Entertainment among our top developers for 3D Blaster," said Hock Leow, vice president of graphics and video products for Creative Technology. "Our goal of offering the best games on the most widely supported 3D platform available continues to be realized as new and exciting 3D games come to market that support our products."

Battle Arena Toshinden, touted as the number one game on the Sony PlayStation, is expected to be just as popular on the PC. In this head-to-head 3D polygon-based game, players select one of eight incredible fighters to participate in an underworld martial arts tourney held only once every few years. Each fighter has a unique fighting style and weapon, and the victor is hailed as the strongest, most invincible fighter in the world. PC users can play head-to-head across a LAN or via the Internet in super VGA mode.

"Creative's 3D Blaster provides superior graphics performance truly enhancing Battle Arena Toshinden's ability to stand out as an exceptional 3D game for the PC," said Dave Luehmann, vice president and executive producer for Playmates Interactive Entertainment. "CGL has proven to be an exceptional development platform for Battle Arena Toshinden and we look forward to introducing additional 3D Blaster compatible games."

3D Blaster is a graphics display card with hardware-accelerated 3D rasterization that brings workstation-level graphics performance to the PC at consumer pricing. Creative's 3D Blaster products are unique in their ability to draw perspective-correct, texture mapped images so that graphics do not warp, swim or shake in a distracting manner. 3D Blaster for VL-Bus systems is currently shipping and the version for PCI Bus systems will ship this summer.

More than 200 registered developers have pledged their support for 3D Blaster. 3D Blaster supports multiple 3D graphics APIs including Creative's own Creative Graphics Library (CGL) which is the ideal development platform for developers with legacy DOS-based applications. In addition, Creative supports Microsoft's Direct3D making it the most supported PC-based 3D accelerator on the market.

Creative Technology, Ltd. is the world's leading provider of advanced multimedia solutions for personal computers, including sound, graphics, communications and video conferencing products. The company's Sound Blaster technology has been accepted as the worldwide standard sound platform for PCs, and the company's global distribution network is the most extensive in the multimedia industry. Creative is focused on enhancing the overall user experience by providing powerful, enabling, high-value technology for the mass market.

Creative will be demonstrating 3D Blaster and its entire line of multimedia products at E3 in the Los Angeles Convention Center, West Hall, Booth #1501.
