Limitations of MS Windows NT 4.0 drivers

(Note: This page is an extraction of a readme.txt file in MS Windows NT 4.0)

If your card has an AWE Wave-table Synthesizer it will be detected but there is no PnP AWE driver in this release.

If your card has an IDE Controller it will be detected but there is no PnP IDE driver in this release.

If you installed the legacy (non-PnP) IDE driver by selecting MS Windows NT default driver you may experience failures loading this driver on your Sound Blaster card. To fix this problem, go to the SCSI Adapters Control Panel applet and select the Drivers Tab. Select the IDE CD-ROM driver that says "(not Started)" next to it, then select Remove.

Due to limitations of the Sound Blaster driver and hardware, certain models of the Sound Blaster AWE 32 PnP card won't be able to play FM Synthesis. No error is recieved for this problem and no sound will be played. This problem will be fixed in subsequent releases. The model numbers that this effects are:

CT2760
CT2760A
CT3780
CT3960
CT3900
CT391x
CT3980

Only a single installed Sound Blaster audio card is supported.

If a previous driver non-PnP audio driver is installed remove your old Sound Blaster driver using the Multimedia Control Panel and reboot before responding to new PnP ISA configuration dialogs. Removal of the Sound Blaster device is accomplished through the Device property sheet in the Multimedia Control Panel.
