The TextAssist API (TAAPI) is created for Microsoft Windows 3.1x and Windows 95 developers who intend to develop 16-bit Text-to-Speech software applications using Creative's TextAssist speech engine.
The TextAssist API consists of a set of functions encompassing a broad range
of text-to-speech capabilities including:
The TextAssist API package also includes a voice editing tool for creating new custom voices, a Visual Basic Custom Control for high-level text-to-speech support in Visual Basic as well as many other languages that support Visual Basic custom controls, and some sample programs to demonstrate the usage of various functions.
Basically, the developers are required to know how to program in the Microsoft Windows platform.
The TextAssist API can support the Sound Blaster 16 or Sound Blaster AWE32 family of cards with the TextAssist engine properly installed.
The TextAssist API supports both Microsoft Windows 3.1x and Windows 95.
The TextAssist API is compatible with both Microsoft and Borland compilers. You can write your codes either in C/C++, Turbo Pascal or Visual Basic.
The TextAssist API is only released to registered developers at no cost. Please check the Developer Registration section or contact Developer Relations/Support for details.
There is a patch file available for Windows 95.
