Problem:
CD-ROM Not Detected In PnP System After CD-ROM Installation and All
Parameters Settings Are Correct.
Cause:
Systems with PnP BIOS have some of their IRQs reserved by the BIOS for
configuring PnP PCI cards/slots. They are named as INT A, INT B,
INT C ,INT D, etc.(depending on the number of PCI slots present). Usually
the IRQs reserved will be 9, 10, 11 and 12. For the Sound Blaster card's
built-in IDE port, the common IRQ's used are 10 and 11 (which in this case,
is being reserved by the BIOS). This will cause the CD-ROM drive to not
be detected.
Solution:
Change the PCI IRQ assignment (in the BIOS setup) to another IRQ if the
Sound Blaster card's IDE port's IRQ is being reserved by BIOS in the Plug
& Play assignment.
