QDI ManageEasy Version 1.2 Readme QME 1.2, August 1998 (C) 1998 Quantum Designs(HK) LTD. This document includes information relating to the August 1998 release of QDI ManageEasy Version 1.2 (QME 1.2). *********** 1. Overview There are three main components, as following: (1) DMIView You can view and update DMIBIOS 2.0 information, but you must turn to pure DOS while updating DMI BIOS with Set_BIOS.exe. (2) QDI Desktop Manager You can view system information and your computer status, and can be monitored for voltages, temperatures, fans, chassis, and much more. (3) Administrator Management Application With AMA, you can browse the computer having installed ManagerEasy Local Version, snatching their screen and watching system information, talking with them, also restarting or shutting their computer if they give you the privilige, etc. ********** 2. Install Autorun while pluging in the QME 1.2 CD-ROM, or you run Setup.exe from the QME 1.2 CD-ROM by yourself. You must uninstall post-installed QME before installing the new QME. (1) System requirements . Windows 9X or Windows NT 4.0. . QDI Motherboard which bundle with the QDM software CD. . 16 MB of RAM for Windows 9X and for Windows NT 4.0. . 20 MB of available hard drive space. (2) Express vs. Custom installation During setup you will be asked to choose between the Express and Custom installation options. The Express install can help you make the fastest installation, accept the default threshold of voltages, fans and temperatures, the only thing you have to do is to assign the install path on the hard disk. If you don't want to install the default setting, you may select Custom install. In Custom Install, you can change the threshold of voltages, fans and temperatures, as you like. (3) QDI Motherboard vs. Not-QDI Motherboard While you install QME 1.2 on Not-QDI motherboard, you must configure the chipsets, which is used by your motherboard. To select the module of monitor chipset (for example: LM80 and MAX1617) and click TEST, the setup program will read the threshold of your computer depending on your selection. If you continue installing QME, the setup program will use these test values as the nominal value, the QME monitor will send warning and critical message based on these values. Note: . The QME can not identify all the module chipsets on the motherboard, the test values are only a reference. . If you are not clear about your hardware, please consult with your computer distributor. ****************** 3. Troubleshooting (1) Not-QDI motherboard will monitor only the fans, voltages and the temperatures having been detected during installation. A fan, which is installed after QME installation, won't be monitored, and you must reinstall QME to support the fan added. (2) If the display values of fans or temperatures are 0, it means there are no monitors or devices on your motherboard. (3) Some not-QDI motherboards don't update the DMI BIOS information accoding to the real configuration for it's motherboard, such as DIMM memory. So, maybe you will find that the information in QME can't match the devices on your motherboard. (4) You may see a null screen or wait for a long time, while using 'snatch screen' at AMA. This is because someone else is snatching screen on the same computer at the same time, and the screen data is too large to transfer. (5) You may not see a correct screen while the client is playing Xing or other DirectX applications, because these applications display mode are different from the normal mode. (6) You may see a bad screen while the client's monitor color number setting are higher than the administrator color number setting. ************ For more details please see manual, or visit our www site: http://www.qdigrp.com.
