How do I use a Zip file. How this works... You can find the driver you need by first selecting your Video Accelerator chip and operating system in the Drivers and utilities area ( i.e. 325, 765,988, ect ). From there, it is as easy as clicking on the link which will prompt you to download the Driver file. Once the file is downloaded you will need to decompress it. If the extension is "EXE" ( i.e. PK204g.EXE ) then the decompression will be done for you by just executing the file. You must make sure that when you run the file that it is in an area or directory which you do not mind adding files to, usually the best way to do it is to expand the files into a new or empty directory or Disk. To make a directory in DOS, just type "MD", example: Start from C: C:\ MD S3temp (Enter) You have just created a directory called S3 TEMP. You can name it what ever you wish or can remember easily, in case you need to type the path as in the Windows 3.1 setup, or browse for it in the Windows 95 setup. Now that you have an empty directory, you will want to move all download files into your new directory (i.e W9520204.zip, PK204g.exe Winzip31.exe ect). A a common recieving directory would the download directory of your internet service provider. Example, America On-line. The download directory would be called C:\AOL30\download. All downloaded files would end up in this directory. You will need to copy all downloaded files into your new empty directory, Example: Start from C: cd s3temp (Enter) You are now in (S3temp) C:\S3temp\ Use the "Copy" command. C:\S3temp Copy C:\aol30*.* (Enter) *.* will copy all files from the AOL directory unless you specify the file C:\S3temp\ Copy C:\aol30\W9520204.zip (Enter) If the file ends in the "ZIP" extension ( i.e. W9520204.ZIP ) then you'll need to unzip it using PK204G.EXE or Winzip95.exe. These utilities are located in the "Shareware and Misc." file area of Drivers and utilities. With Winzip from within windows you can simply double-click on the ZIP'ed file from within Winzip. With PKUNZIP, after executing PK204G.exe into the receiving Empty directory, you must type "PKUNZIP filename.ZIP" in a dos prompt session, still making sure that Zipped driver file is also in the empty directory. After unzipping or extracting the compressed file into the New directory, just refer to the installation procedures Below Drivers can also be obtained from our Electronic Bulletin Board System. The BBS number is 1-408-654-5676 and the settings are 8,n,1. The bbs works with Worldgroup clients but will also accept any ansi connections.
