56HZ.EXE is a TSR program which forces modes with a resolution of 800x600 to operate at a 56Hz refresh rate. Newer S3 chips do not have 56Hz modes available in BIOS, therefore some older monitors which require a 56Hz refresh rate at 800x600 do not function properly with newer chips. 56HZ.EXE may allow this older monitors to work with the newer chips. To install: Add a line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT which runs 56HZ.EXE. For example, if you have placed 56HZ.EXE into a directory called "c:\util", add this line to your AUTOEXEC.BAT: c:\util\56hz.exe Then reboot. This program should function under DOS, Windows 3.1x and Windows 95.
